WELCOME TO THE KILTED KILN

We are a family owned business which opened our doors in November 2016.

We had previously owned a studio for four years in the early 2000’s and missed working with people in a calm and relaxing artistic environment. Every Kilted Kiln customer is greeted with an enthusiastic “hello” when they enter our studio and are provided with an explanation of the creative tools at their disposal to ensure that their visit is a worthwhile one.

We offer over 160 different pieces of Bisqueware with prices ranging from $4 to $105 per piece. Our Studio Fee is $6 per adult painter and $4 per child painter. This is a flat fee, not per hour or per item, like some studio’s. Customers have over 60 colors to choose from. All items are dipped in overglaze and kilned at 1800 degrees for 24 hours. All completed items are food, microwave, oven and dishwasher safe and ready to pick up no longer than 7 days after completion. NO RESERVATIONS are required and children of all ages are welcomed.

LET'S START WITH SOME BASIC INFORMATION | 

• We are open 7 days a week
• Reservations are never required unless you are interested in scheduling a group or event of 7 or more people.

• All new painters and those in need of a refresher are presented with “Tips and Tricks” which allows for “everyone to be an artist”. 95% of our painters are new to this and they create incredible pieces just by listening to a few key tips.

• Once you are finished, all completed pieces are dipped in overglaze, think of it as liquid glass, and fired in a kiln for 24 hours so they are ready for pickup no later than 7 days.

• Your completed piece will be food, microwave, dishwasher, oven, animal, and garden safe so you can use them

• There is a $6 Studio Fee for adults and a $4 Studio Fee for Children ages 12 and under. Our studio fee is a flat fee. It is not per hour, per item, or per paint like most places. This covers paints, materials, and kilning labor/materials.

• We have 65 colors to choose from and always have over 160 pieces in stock.

• If you do not like what you see in our existing inventory we are more than happy to provide you with the websites of where we order from and we can make a custom order for you.

• PLEASE READ REGARDING HOURS: Since projects typically take longer than an hour to complete, we request that you arrive no earlier than one hour prior to closing. The exception is for groups or events which have been scheduled with us ahead of time. You can always take your item home and bring it back for completion at no additional charge or do a Bisque in a Box!

EVENTS & BIRTHDAY PARTIES

• In over 9 years of business, we have hosted over 500 events and parties. We have a party room which is separate from the studio that can seat 26 people comfortably in addition to two large tables for food, drinks, presents, whatever you would like to use them for. KIDS CLUB

The Kilted Kiln is pleased to offer The Kilted Kiln Kids Club.

When kids ages Newborn to 17 years old paint Monday-Friday from 3:00 until close they receive 50% off of their studio fees. This is a savings of $2 per 12 and under and $3 per 13 and over painter. They also get their own Kids Club card and receive a credit toward a free studio fee that they will receive after 5 visits.

They will not receive a discount if they paint during other times and dates, but they will still receive a credit.

DATE NIGHT

Sunday, all day from 12-5 is Date Day, and couples will pay one studio fee instead of two.

BIRTHDAY MONTH

• Paint at The Kilted Kiln during the month of your birthday and you will not be charged a studio fee.

THE MOBILE KILTED KILN

• We take the studio to you! In over 9 years in business, we have gone to: Pre-Schools, Elementary Schools, High Schools, Churches, Moose Lodges, individual homes, campgrounds, bars/restaurants, and so many other places to bring the fun of painting to groups who would rather not paint in the studio. BISQUE IN A BOX

• If you would rather paint at home instead of the studio, you can order online and pick up your pieces, paints, and brushes or come into the studio and select all of that in person. For ordering and more information click here!

DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

 If you work at The Arc of Crawford County, UCIP, Supports, CHAPS, Touch Stone, Barber Center, Erie Homes or any place that works with clients who need a little extra help you and your client will receive half off your studio fee every day we are open.

• How many items are there to choose from?

• How Many colors do you have to choose from?

• ​I made my masterpiece, what happens when I am done?
• Upon completion, you are not expected to clean up (let us do that) and please leave your completed masterpiece on your table so it can dry. You pay us and come back in a week to pick up.

• Is the Studio Time Per hour?
• No. We do not believe in rushing the creative process. You pay a flat Studio Fee $4 for children and $6 for adults.

• Can I paint more than one item?
• Yes, you can and you will not be charged an additional studio fee.

• Can I pre-order items?
• Yes. We are happy to provide you with the websites of the distributors we purchase from and we will order any item you would like.

• Is there a facility rental fee for a party?
• No, but we must have at least 8 painters. You cannot have 4 painters and 4 non-painters for example. 

• Do I have to make a reservation?
• No, you do not, unless you are interested in scheduling a group or an event of 7 or more people.

• Can I bring food and beverages into the studio?
• Yes, you can - We encourage snacks and BYO (Whatever)!

OUR POTTERY IN REAL LIFE

One of the greatest things about the items you create at The Kilted Kiln is the practicality of the completed piece. When you are finished painting with our underglazes, we dip your item in overglaze which is like liquid glass, and, then cook it in the Kiln for 24 hours at 1800 degrees. Overglaze makes your piece food, microwave, dishwasher and oven safe so you can actually use your items.
